Help expand access to English classes for indigenous youth and adults in Tena, Ecuador!
Our Partnership
In May 2025, Manna Project International (MPI) partnered with Napo Runakuna Musky FOIN (the Indigenous Federation of Napo) in Tena to launch virtual English classes for adults. By July, the program expanded to in-person classes for children and adults alike, bringing the total number of students served across both formats to more than 100.
The demand is clear. Families, youth, and professionals in Napo are eager to learn. But without your support, these classes cannot continue.
Why This Matters
In today’s world, English is a gateway to education, employment, and international opportunities. But in Ecuador, and especially in Napo province, English proficiency lags far behind.
Ecuador ranks 82nd out of 116 countries for English skills (EF EPI).
Napo province has one of the lowest scores in the nation.
Yet, with tourism being one of the province’s fastest growing industries, speaking English can make the difference between seasonal work and a stable job. By learning English, community members in Napo can:
✔️ Access better educational and professional opportunities
✔️ Strengthen their role in a growing tourism sector
✔️ Empower youth to dream bigger futures
Our Goal
We are raising $2,500 to provide 2 virtual English sessions and 1 in-person session in partnership with FOIN starting in spring 2026. Each of these classes will meet twice a week for 8 weeks, serving an estimated total of 150 indigenous Kichwa students from communities throughout Napo province. Your gift will go toward covering: classroom supplies, transportation for volunteer teachers, transportation for students in need, printing and materials, refreshments for students, and course certificates. Just $25 will fully sponsor 1 student to participate in a class!
