Child Sponsorship Program
In La Chureca, the city dump, MPI runs a Child Sponsorship Program that currently serves fifty-two children. Our program targets clinically malnourished children, with special focus on those in the most crucial stage of development – one to seven years of age. In order for a child to be enrolled, his or her mother must attend weekly health talks given by the clinic nurse Esmerelda, who the PDS work hand in hand with. The Child Sponsorship team serves alternatively as health promoters, social workers, counselors, and friends. They build relationships with participating families, arrange consults, take kids to outside appointments as needed, and generally provide supportive services so that families are better equipped with the skills and tools they need to care for their children.
To cover the program cost, each child in the program has a sponsor, or padrino, who provides the funds for monthly milk, oatmeal, and vitamins, as well as Christmas and Birthday presents. Funds donated to the general Child Sponsorship account help cover the costs of special drugs or medical treatments that some children need to treat both acute and chronic conditions.

To sponsor a child
Step 1:
Once you have decided to sponsor a child please email us at childsponsor@mannaproject.org and let us know your decision so that we can pair you up with a child currently in need of a sponsor. After that, we will send you information about your child and your role as a sponsor.
Step 2:
There are two payment options.
1.) You can send a check made payable to Manna Project International with Child Sponsorship specified in the Memo. Payments can be made in monthly payments of $20, quarterly payments of $60, two payments of $120, or in a single $240 payment. Send the checks to:

2.) You can donate online here, again specifying Child Sponsorship.
Please make a note on your check that it is for the Child Sponsorship Program. You will receive a tax-deductible receipt within a month of the deposit.
