Manna Project International has been operating symbiotic experiential education abroad experiences since 2004 with the goal of making tangible social impact in the communities we serve.

Developing communities
At MPI's sites, families are connected with support; challenges met with resources; and foreign volunteers gain first-hand development experience. Programs are formed in collaboration with our neighbors and in response to expressed needs. Social change is built on the strong foundation of a long-term, committed relationship. Since 2004, Manna Project International has been able to work alongside and support over 10,000 underserved community members in Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. In turn, over 2,000 volunteers have gone on to become social change agents in their own communities worldwide.

There are so many things that you need to consider when you travel abroad or volunteer abroad in 2024 that it’s hard to know where to start! You are probably considering your long term impact on the community and earth, the sustainability of the programs that you’re joining onto, whether or not you’re contributing to a sustainable solution to systemic challenges, the culture that you’re stepping into and how to best respect it, how to make an impact abroad without playing into white saviorism and colonialist tropes, and that’s before you think about your own logistics and challenges.
